Princess Nokia’s New York

New York City’s latest it-girl and hip hop’s newest darling, Princess Nokia (née Destiny Frasqueri) is back with another new release. With her double feature for “Bart Simpson” and “Green Line,” the rapper further pays homage to the Big Apple.

Both videos, which she co-directed with Milah Libin, paint an authentic picture of the upbringing of a native New Yorker. “Bart Simpson” creates a cinematic storyline of a girl who might not have been the most athletic or popular in school, maybe not the most focused or studious, but who was (and still is) always genuinely herself. Meanwhile, “Green Line” takes us on a journey through her hometown through her eyes, keeping in mind her captivating spirit. Both tracks, with a true New York sound, tell a concise story that helps to better understand the artist we’re currently falling in love with.

“Bart Simpson” and “Green Line” are both from Princess Nokia’s album, 1992 Deluxe, available now on Rough Trade Records.
