So I’ve been looking through some of Vogue Italia‘s “Magazine TV” videos, and I came across a few gems. Actually, pretty much all of the videos are spectacular. One of my favorites was from the March 2012 shoot titled “Haute Mess,” featuring Coco Rocha, Abbey Lee Kershaw, and more. I know the spread got a lot of negative backlash, but I love how this absolutely ridiculous theme is made to look so high fashion. Check the video out and share your thoughts!
I wasn’t sure that Vogue Italia could produce anything more exceptional than their literally perfect March 2013 spread, but Steven Meisel is always outdoing himself. The photographer shot a potentially iconic cover featuring new face Edie Campbell for the magazine’s April 2013 issue. I’m not Campbell’s biggest fan, but she looks immaculate in this photo, which is giving me some great 90’s vibes. While the cover spread has yet to be released, I have no doubts that it will be another great piece from one of the best fashion magazines in the world. Until then, enjoy the cover and let me know your thoughts!
I’m not a huge fan of the whole retro trend, but this spread in Elle España’s March 2013 issue featuring Dutch model Rianne ten Haken definitely makes me a believer. First of all, Rianne looks perfect from head to toe, and it’s shocking to me that she isn’t a household name. Also, photographer Xavi Gordo did a great job of capturing a certain mood for this shoot. Stylist Inmaculata Jimenez picked pieces from Burberry Prorsum, Dolce & Gabbana, and more, and each look helped to create a remarkable fashion story. This isn’t necessarily the most incredible editorial I’ve ever seen, but something about it has definitely gotten my attention.
Okay I know I literally just started this blog and I should be studying for a midterm or sleeping or something, but I can’t resist commenting on this. For the March 2013 issue of Vogue Italia, Steven Meisel shot new face Vanessa Axente with male model Gustav Swedberg, and the end result was phenomenal. I’m not sure why I’m so fascinated by this simple studio shoot, but I love how it evokes a somewhat retro feel without being too dated or pretentious. Also, it usually takes a lot for me to be interested in a new model, but Vanessa is killing it right now. I think the two models work together perfectly, and with Meisel reminding us why he’s one of today’s best photographers, I think all parties did pretty well. Let the rest of the images speak for themselves, and check out the full spread at Vogue Italia‘s website.
